Sunscreen for Players

A lot of sports can be really tough on the skin. Athletes who usually play under the sun would get dry and damaged skin. Being the largest organ of the body, the skin when damage would have a huge impact on a player's performance. Let us say a volleyball player suffers from severe sunburns. His or her concentration would be greatly distracted by the pain and discomfort that sunburn entails. More importantly, constant overexposure to the sun can cause skin cancer – a condition none of us really want. Therefore, athletes - especially outdoor players - have to make sure they minimize the harsh effects of the sun on their skin. This is where a good sunscreen becomes useful.

Sunscreens are skin care products and they can easily be found at your local department stores, beauty shops, or pharmacies. Sunscreens are different from sunblocks because they absorb the sun's rays chemically while sunblocks deflect solar rays. As such, there are certain things one should consider when selecting the right sunscreen. First, to economize, get the product that can be applied to both face and body. Get the sunscreen that offers sun protection factor (SPF) of 20 or above. Make sure the product offers excellent protection from UV rays. Getting water resistant sunscreens is a good idea because they do not come off easily in the water or if you sweat heavily. Take note also that there are various types of sunscreens - creams, liquids, and spray-ons. Get one that is most ideal for your needs.

On the whole, athletes should never do without sunscreens. They offer protection and peace of mind, allowing you to train, play, and perform in confidence.
